The trowel is a tool used to smooth and shape large surfaces treated with mortar. The most common are metal trowels, and there are almost no variations in the working part. In most cases, the only difference is the shape and type of the handle, according to the preferences of the craftsman. There are open L-shaped handles, as well as closed, full handles, ergonomic, double, etc.
Depending on the type of metal, trowels are divided into stainless steel and regular ones. When choosing the tool with which you will apply plaster, it must meet one basic and mandatory requirement – it must be made of stainless steel. Otherwise, you risk contaminating the plaster.
There is a huge variety of trowels on the market. Depending on what you will use them for, they have different sizes and surfaces, and are made of different materials.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TROLLEYS USED FOR?
The most important thing about a metal trowel is its flat working surface.
There are various reasons why sheet metal can remain uneven after the tool is made – uneven billet, thermal shrinkage at a higher than normal temperature of the spot weld on the handle, etc.
There are also trowels made of non-metallic materials. One such is the plastic trowel, which is particularly suitable for working with "scratched" plasters.
Another type is the trowel with high-resistance rubber. It is used for grouting faience, terracotta and granite tiles. Trowels with regular or porous rubber are also used for similar purposes.
There are notched trowels for applying adhesive to faience, terracotta and granite. Depending on the width of the tooth, a different width of the adhesive strip is obtained. A thinner strip means less material and a thinner layer of adhesive overall.
Another type of trowel is the needle trowel. It is made of high-hardness steel and is used for roughening smooth surfaces that need to be primed, as well as for removing lighter gypsum plasters.
Trowels are usually 20 to 28 cm long and 10 to 14 cm wide. There are also varieties of trowels, such as the so-called "butterflies" for plaster putty. "Butterflies" are thin and long flexible metal feathers with handles, which are used to smooth large surfaces and produce the best plaster putties.
A variation of the trowel is the so-called "fardashka". This is a tool used to finally smooth the plaster.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TROLLEY AND A FART
The appearance of both is almost the same, but the Malamashka is usually larger than the Fardashka.
The trowel is most often made of metal and, depending on its thickness, can be used to apply both plaster and putty (for putty, it must be thin and bend slightly).
The trowel is usually made of plastic or wood and is about 1 cm thick. Plasters are applied with it.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
All metal trowels offered by us are made of high-quality stainless steel, so they meet the basic and mandatory requirement for the material of manufacture. We have both lower-class tools in terms of quality and price, which can be used by amateurs, and high-class models for professionals /which does not mean that amateurs cannot also benefit from their quality/. The variety in sizes is large, in order to fully satisfy the demand. All handles are ergonomic, but there is variability in their shapes - closed and L-shaped.
Taking into account the different activities for which they are adapted, in addition to stainless steel trowels, we also have those made of plastic, rubber and foam. With us you can also find a mini comb made of PVC material, designed for evenly applying adhesive solution to thermal insulation boards.
The products in this group are used for puttying, fine puttying, scratched and dragged plaster, for applying glue, for washing and for grouting.
Of particular interest is the professional series of trowels from industry leader PAVAN, which are made in Italy from very flexible stainless steel. One of the models is even handmade and has a wooden handle.
More detailed information about the products we offer in this group can be found in their individual technical data sheets.
In addition to PAVAN, the list of manufacturers also includes PIK TOOLS and SIRI.
The prices match the quality and are extremely affordable.
