SHEET METAL SHEARS AND REINFORCEMENT SHEARS – TYPES AND CHARACTERISTICS
The product group "Scissors" mainly offers sheet metal shears and rebar shears. They are designed for cutting thin metal sheets or profiles. Manual sheet metal shears are available in various versions. Different materials are used in their production. Ordinary steel is used for the handle, and the cutting edges are made of alloy steel. Thanks to this, the shears are light, comfortable and working with them is much easier. Thanks to the lever mechanism, the effort involved in working is reduced.
The metal cutting tool can be equipped with a lever gear or be a classic - single-joint. For the production of the cutting edge and handles of classic scissors, a whole blank is used, made by forging. When using them, it is important to consider that the cutting force will depend on the ratio between the length of the cutting edge of the scissors and the length of its handles.
In sheet metal shears there is a lever gear connecting the cutting head with the handles. The connection of these parts is on a hinged principle, thanks to which the necessary leverage is created. This technology, implemented in manual sheet metal shears, allows to significantly reduce the effort used when cutting metal.
The service life and reliability of the cutting blade are determined by a number of characteristics, among which the quality of the metal from which the scissors are made and its processing are very important. Steel blades made of high-speed steels with increased strength are distinguished by high efficiency, while meeting modern requirements and standards.
The sheet metal shears are made using the forging technology from high-quality steels. The use of the induction hardening method allows to achieve an increase in the hardness of the blade, which ensures high durability of the tool. Thanks to the plastic coating and the ergonomic shape, the handle does not slip.
TYPES OF HAND SHEARS FOR CUTTING SHEET METAL AND REINFORCEMENT
There are three types of manual shears for cutting sheet metal: straight /universal/, left-handed and right-handed. With the help of the straight shears, you can not only perform continuous straight cuts in the metal, but also cut large and small radii and contours, although smaller ones require more effort, especially if the material is thicker or harder. With the straight shears, you will be able to perform work in the middle of the sheet, as well as cut the edges.
Curved sheet metal shears are useful when you need to make very small radii. The curved shape of their blade allows you to make curved or narrow shapes.
The three types of scissors differ in the shape of the cutting parts: the straight ones are more rounded, while the others have the front upper part removed and are sharper to be able to cut curves.
Generally speaking, straight scissors work best in a straight line, while the other two blades are designed to cut ovals more easily.
SCISSORS FOR LEFT AND RIGHT HANDS
The classification of scissors into right-handed and left-handed is according to their lower cutting blade: in right-handed scissors it is located on the right, and in left-handed scissors - on the left, respectively.
Some people mistakenly believe that the right pair of scissors is a tool for right-handed people and the left pair is for left-handed people. The situation is exactly the opposite: for a right-handed person, the left pair of scissors will be more convenient to use, and for a left-handed person, the right pair.
Right-handed sheet metal shears are made and sharpened so that they can easily cut radii in cases where the arc is made from left to right. Left-handed shears make it easy to cut radii from right to left. If a right-handed person is going to use right-handed shears, they will direct the movement from the wrist outward. When working with a left-handed tool, the movement will be from the wrist inward, which is much more convenient.
