This product group includes items that are used for repairing and overhauling the body and chassis of the car. Here you will find various types of car paints, varnishes, putties, fillers, hardeners and many others. All of them can be used by both professionals and amateurs who have decided to repair their car on their own.
One of the main tasks on cars when it comes to maintaining a good appearance is puttying and painting. We will try to shed some light on the issue and guide you on which tools are suitable for this activity.

HOW TO PAINT YOUR CAR YOURSELF?

You may often ask yourself the following questions - How do I paint my car? How do I paint the bumper of my car? How do I prepare the car for painting? We will try to give some guidelines to those who wish to do auto painting on their own.
Before we begin with the steps you need to go through to paint your car, we must emphasize that it is very important to use Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves, masks, and in some cases safety glasses during painting or other activities related to car repairs.
Painting steps:
- Before the actual part begins, the car needs to be washed thoroughly. In the best case, a water jet can be used. This will remove basic dirt and you will be able to see all defects on the details. After washing the car, the water is not allowed to dry. The car needs to be dried and aired.
- Next comes degreasing the surfaces. Degreasing is done to remove all remaining dirt that the water jet was unable to remove. The best option for degreasing is using a special sprayer and wiping with the appropriate paper towels.
- Once you are sure that all parts are well cleaned and degreased, the next step is to inspect the damage, knock out any irregularities, patch and pull the metal.
- Next comes preparation for applying automotive putty. If the surface is scratched, it must be sanded so that no sharp edges or deep scratches remain. If there are deep scratches, this will lead to the putty being sucked in later and, accordingly, to an undesirable effect. To avoid this, the sanding process must make a smooth transition from coarse to fine sandpaper.
- Applying putty. Apply putty with an almost upright spatula in thin layers. Thick layers of putty applied with an inclined spatula lead to the formation of voids that will play a bad joke on you. After each layer of putty, spray control paint - thinly. This will show us all the irregularities and holes. After sanding, where the control remained, there is a hole. This part needs to be sanded again with coarse and fine sandpaper before the filler. After sanding, the automotive putty should only remain on the bare metal.
- Now comes the primer filler. For good adhesion of the filler, the entire detail must be rubbed with an abrasive cloth - red Scotchbright. This is followed by mandatory blowing, degreasing and gluing.
- Next comes spraying filler with postolet. After the filler dries, it's time for sanding again.
- Now comes the painting. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the paint instructions, how to use it, and how many coats are needed for best results. After painting is complete, varnish is applied.
