Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are semiconductor elements that convert electrical energy into light. They are the light sources of the present and even more of the future. LED lamps or LED bulbs are created on the basis of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). These lamps have a long life and full electrical efficiency, thanks to their very high light output, which is several times higher than that of incandescent lamps and significantly higher than that of most fluorescent lamps.
WHY CHOOSE AN LED LAMP?
When it comes to modern lighting fixtures, you might think that halogen lights are at the top of the quality charts. But you would be wrong, as LED lighting currently uses the most leading technologies for lumen output and delivers incredible lighting effects.
These types of lamps provide instant light and do not need to “warm up” as happens with energy-saving lamps, which do just that before they start emitting their full amount of light. LED bulbs have adjustable luminous flux, and they can now produce a very good natural white light (earlier versions gave a white hue that many people recognized as unnatural compared to that of a normal bulb).
The key benefit of LED lighting is the huge cost savings it brings once you’ve gone ahead with it. This is because these items use, on average, around ten percent of the power of a standard incandescent light bulb. So, while they may cost more, the huge energy savings they bring are such that LED lights pay for themselves in just a few months.
In fact, the energy savings they bring are the reason why many large scientific institutions, such as universities, use them in their buildings and campuses. And this leads to savings in running costs of thousands of leva per year.
The advantages of LED lighting are as follows:
- LED lighting is more durable compared to other types of lighting.
- LED lamps use less energy.
- LED lamps generate less heat, which reduces the need for air conditioning.
- LED lamps emit less carbon dioxide, which is one way to tackle global warming.
- LED lamps have different shapes and designs and are suitable for different types of applications.
- LED lamps withstand cold and heat over a relatively wide range.
- The brightness of this lighting is higher compared to existing lighting technologies (incandescent or fluorescent) and the light spreads better in the area illuminated by the luminaire.
- Light emission remains constant over time, weakening only at the end of the luminaire's life (50,000 hours, or 45 years when used up to 3 hours per day).
- Provides great quality color lighting.
- Its efficiency is at the level of fluorescent light or higher.
- Light is emitted continuously once the lamp is turned on.
- It doesn't flicker when it gets weak.
LED lights are robust and long-lasting, and can also withstand cold and heat over a relatively wide range.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF LED OVER OTHER LAMPS?
Despite the advantages of energy-saving bulbs over incandescent bulbs, they are not the best solution. LED bulbs are much better than them. They have a three times longer lifespan and are more efficient (the ratio between the energy consumed and the light received is better).
LED light sources have a number of other advantages. Unlike traditional light sources, LED lamps do not have a fragile filament, which makes them much more durable. As we have emphasized, they have up to a hundred times longer life than the sources they replace. For this reason, they are a very good option when it comes to installing in hard-to-reach places, such as high ceilings, roofs, etc. LED lamps are the most compact of all. On the other hand, LED light sources do not contain mercury and do not require specific measures in case of breakage, as with fluorescent lamps.
LED bulbs generally provide a cleaner, brighter light than incandescent bulbs, making them ideal for use in kitchens, on desks, dressing tables, and more.
Another advantage is the fact that insects are not attracted to LED lamps, which do not emit UV radiation.
Due to their low energy consumption, LED lighting can be powered entirely by backup or alternative energy sources. For this reason, it is appropriate to use LED sources in remote areas where there is no electricity supply, as well as in places with frequent breakdowns.
25% of a home’s energy costs are for lighting. LED lighting is the technology that is most likely to be used entirely in the future, replacing incandescent bulbs. Compact fluorescent lamps are only a temporary solution for energy-efficient lighting. The reason why LEDs have not yet replaced them is twofold: the first generation of LEDs had a narrow and focused light beam and their price was too high. As with any other electronics, prices are expected to come down as more products enter the market.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
Highlighting the advantages of LED over other types of lighting, we have focused on the greatest diversity in the offer precisely in this product group from the category "Electric bulbs". The exceptional variability is in power, color temperature, design, shapes, colors, bases and purpose of the lighting fixtures. Regarding the types, there are lamps with classic pear-shaped shapes, candle-shaped, spherical; there are freckles, spots, rings, tubes.
The products are from the brands VIVALUX, PHILIPS, PILA, EL-BI, VISIBLELUX and others.
