Moisture-resistant luminaires are a special category of luminaires that are widely used in industry. They are distinguished from conventional lighting by their high degree of protection against moisture and dust, which makes them suitable in industry for halls, workshops, warehouses and other premises with an aggressive working environment, as well as in homes in residential buildings - for bathrooms, terraces, cellars, closets, wet rooms, workshops, interfloor spaces, etc.
This type of lighting is designed for operation in conditions of high humidity for extended periods of time, with moisture protection achieved by manufacturing the housings and components from moisture-resistant high-tech materials and using sealing solutions.
Moisture-resistant luminaires are designed for direct installation, for embedding in a ceiling or wall, hanging, wall lamps, etc. The types of light sources used are both conventional gas-discharge (fluorescent, sodium, metal-halide, mercury) lamps, and LED modules that are increasingly integrated into industrial systems.
WHERE ARE MOISTURE-RESISTANT LIGHTING FIXTURES USED?
Moisture-resistant lighting is specifically designed for operation in environments with high humidity, as complex production conditions often require protection against dust, sparking, erosion, fire and explosion protection, resistance to chemical agents, etc.
Many modern weatherproof lighting solutions are designed to withstand impact or operate at very low or high temperatures, making them suitable for a range of process applications and industries, including chemical, pharmaceutical, food, petroleum, mining, automotive, shipbuilding and more.
Their specific qualities allow their integration into production lines, visual inspection and quality control lines, blasting chambers, drinking and wastewater treatment plants, power plants, etc.
The degree of moisture protection of this type of lighting is indicated by the letter code IP (Ingress Protection) and a two-digit scale, with the first digit (from 0 to 6) indicating the dust protection of the electrical equipment, and the second (from 0 to 8) - the moisture protection.
When designing lighting systems for industrial sites, all available factors of the environment and the room in which the fixtures will be installed are taken into account, and the specifications for their implementation are set in the electrical installations section of the design documentation. Moisture-resistant luminaires used for industrial applications usually have a degree of protection from IP54 to IP67. For domestic purposes, the use of luminaires with lower numerical indicators is allowed.
WHAT ARE WATERPROOF LIGHT FIXTURES MADE OF?
Designing lighting for aggressive industrial environments requires the use of specially developed materials and technologies. The basic design of a moisture-proof lighting fixture usually includes a light source, housing, diffuser, reflector, mounting elements, and control gear.
The most common are housings with a round or elongated rectangular base, and pendant luminaires with a "bell" type housing are also often used. Traditionally, polycarbonate, glass fiber reinforced polyester, etc. are used to make housings. Unlike polycarbonate products, fiberglass housings also have high resistance to ultraviolet rays and chemicals.
Many modern solutions also rely on other high-tech polymer materials or metals, depending on the requirements of the application. Polyester, belonging to the group of thermosetting plastics, has excellent mechanical characteristics, and the resistance and strength of the various shapes and sizes of luminaires made of polyester is extremely high.
In addition, this material is lightweight and a good insulator. The sealing of the housings is carried out using various techniques, and in the mass production of moisture-proof luminaires, automated lines are used for applying one- and two-component polyurethane foams, silicone-based sealing materials, rubber sealants, etc.
An important factor for the profitability of light sources is energy efficiency, which increasingly requires the use of LED bulbs. Moisture-proof LED luminaires are widely used precisely because of their high efficiency. LED lighting technology allows the design of fixtures with a high degree of moisture and dust protection, which are usually suitable for operation in wide temperature ranges (for example, from -40 ° C to +65 ° C).
LED luminaires are an excellent alternative to fluorescent luminaires, allowing high energy savings (up to 50%).
ADVANTAGES OF LED TECHNOLOGY IN WATER-RESISTANT LIGHTING FIXTURES
Maintaining and replacing luminaires in rooms with high ceilings or installed in other hard-to-reach places requires significant effort and time. Among the most distinct advantages of LEDs in industrial lighting are minimal maintenance and a long service life (typically over 50 thousand hours).
Moisture-resistant LED bulbs are highly energy efficient, which leads to a drastic reduction in operating costs. They offer a very fast return on investment, while achieving good light output, high luminous intensity, a wide range of color temperatures, eliminated flicker/blinking and noise.
Another advantage of moisture-proof LED luminaires is up to 65% less heat generated during operation compared to conventional incandescent bulbs. This allows their use in rooms with low temperatures (low-temperature chambers for food storage, specific samples in laboratories, etc.). An additional effect of using LED luminaires with a high degree of moisture protection in industrial applications is also limiting the impact on the environment due to significantly reduced mercury pollution and CO2 emissions.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
With us you can find high-quality moisture-resistant lighting fixtures, designed more for residential buildings than for industry and industry. We offer a wide range of ceiling lights, which are traditionally installed on the ceiling, as well as wall lights, whose place is on the wall. There is variability in design, shapes, powers. Almost all moisture-resistant lighting fixtures have a high degree of protection IP54 and have a standard E27 bulb socket.
Our sales list in this product group also includes moisture-resistant LED ceiling lights with a lightweight housing, which are suitable for both wet rooms and outdoor use.
