In this product group, we offer fluorescent lighting fixtures and LED rails.
Fluorescent lamps are cylindrical tubes with electrodes in which mercury vapor is injected. They are better than standard incandescent lamps because they use less electricity to achieve the same brightness and have a longer lifespan (about 20,000 hours). Their durability depends on how they are used. These lamps use less electricity, which makes them energy-saving.
Fluorescent lamps differ from incandescent lamps in that they cannot operate independently. They require a ballast to regulate the flow of energy. Despite this fact, they operate more efficiently and use less energy to produce a given amount of light than incandescent lamps.
Although they use less electricity than standard lighting fixtures, fluorescent lighting is more expensive, which somewhat evens out the competition between the two types. However, in the long run, their purchase is worth it. Until recently, fluorescent lighting fixtures were more commonly used in offices and industrial buildings, while smaller and more compact energy-saving bulbs were preferred primarily for home use. In recent years, however, fluorescent lighting has become more permanent in people's homes.
TYPES OF LUMINESCENT LIGHTING FIXTURES
Fluorescent lamps are divided into two types: with cold and hot electrodes. The former are for higher voltage. They are ignited at 400 – 1500 volts. Lamps with hot electrodes are preheated to 1000 degrees Celsius. They have tungsten electrodes that are coated with strontium or barium oxide. These lamps are started using a starter or thermal relay.
Two different types of fluorescent lamps are a classic example of a compromise in technology. Lamps with a three-layer phosphor are more economical (light output up to 104 lm/W), but have worse color rendering (Ra=80), lamps with a five-layer phosphor have excellent color rendering (Ra=90-98) with lower light output (up to 88 lm/W).
LED LIGHTING SAVES COSTS AND IS SUITABLE FOR DECORATION
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Due to the nature of LEDs, they have a higher potential and greater efficiency when it comes to lighting. Fluorescent and standard incandescent light fixtures emit light in all directions, but much of it is wasted. For many types of fixtures, including recessed lights, fluorescent lighting, and recessed office lighting, about 40–50% of the total light output of the lamps is lost before it leaves the fixture. Light emitting diodes (LEDs) emit light in a specific direction, reducing the need for reflectors and diffusers to trap the light, so well-designed fixtures and recessed office lighting can deliver light to the desired location more efficiently.
LED lighting for home use is widely used not only because it saves costs, but is also very suitable for decoration, spot lighting, recessed lighting and exterior lighting. In the kitchen, this type of lighting finds its application for under-cabinet lighting due to the possibility of directionality, as well as due to its small size. Recessed lighting in kitchen cabinets is used to illuminate active work areas and to complement the overall lighting of the space. This type of lighting illuminates horizontal surfaces related to kitchen activities - food preparation areas, cookbook and food storage areas, cooking and cleaning areas. LED lighting in the kitchen usually provides horizontal lighting on the wall behind the countertop. Colors in the kitchen are of particular importance for food appreciation, social interaction and the finished decorative look of the kitchen. Overall lighting is important to avoid dark spots and to provide a feeling of a wider space.
The decorative application of LED is great, as it allows you to direct light to specific works of art that are significant to the interior, such as paintings hung on the wall. LED lighting comes in different colors – cool white, warm white, red, blue and green. The exterior application of LED is very effective for lighting trees, plants and overall lighting of the garden. LED is also used for water streams, paths, garages and areas for car traffic in the yard.
The advantages of LED lighting:
- It is more durable compared to other types of lighting;
- Wastes less energy;
- Generates less heat, which reduces the need for air conditioning;
- It emits less carbon dioxide, which is one way to deal with global warming;
- Brightness is higher compared to other lighting technologies and light is distributed better;
- Light emission remains constant over time, weakening only at the end of the luminaire's life (50,000 hours, or 45 years when used up to 3 hours per day);
- It does not flicker when it weakens;
- It operates with low voltage, making it safe to use in any area of your home - kitchen, living room, bathroom.
THE FUTURE BELONGS TO LED TECHNOLOGY
Today, LED lighting is more than just a fashion statement. It is gradually becoming a sensible investment not only to reduce electricity costs, but also a bold move to protect our planet. Millions of households around the world are opting for LED bulbs and track lights. They are not only many times more environmentally friendly, but the amount of energy saved compared to traditional incandescent bulbs is enormous. Lighting experts estimate that LED bulbs are up to 90% more efficient. We have already mentioned that the main advantage of the new technology over fluorescent and traditional bulbs is the ability to focus light.
LED technology opens up a new world of lighting potential because it allows it to be integrated into the home in many unconventional ways, both in a single light fixture and in architectural elements. Experts now agree that LED will allow builders, architects and designers to rethink the role of lighting in homes and promise a bright future for its general application.
