The presence of electricity in our homes is so natural that sometimes we don't realize what our life would be like without electricity and lighting. We don't realize that without having an electrical installation in our home, our life would be extremely difficult. Nowadays, all household appliances, heating appliances, white and black appliances that we are used to, work only if we plug them into the outlet and supply them with electricity.
Electrical sockets and switches are divided into two main types - for concealed installation and for surface installation. Surface-mounted sockets and switches are attached to the wall using dowels and screws, with the cables entering from below or from the side. They are sold with a special moisture-proof box.
As important as the sockets in a home are, so are the electrical switches with which we turn on the lights in our home. The most common for installation in homes are single or double sockets, as they can connect electrical appliances with a power of up to 3000 W, which is quite enough for a household.
Sockets and light switches are some of the most important elements in any home, and therefore special attention should be paid to their correct placement.
In general, installing electrical outlets is not a very complicated task, but it, as with everything related to electricity, should be approached very carefully. Our advice is that if you are not familiar with installing outlets and switches, you should contact specialists. If you still decide to install the outlets and electrical switches yourself at home, keep in mind that the most important thing is the following:
When installing or replacing an electrical switch or socket, the electrical power must be turned off!
TYPES OF ELECTRIC SWITCHES AND CONTACTS FOR SURFACE INSTALLATION
Electrical switches are used to turn lighting on and off. Here the variety is greater, with the main types being:
- Single switch – used to control one light fixture, regardless of the number of lamps. All are turned on and off simultaneously.
- Serial switch – consists of two or three switches mounted in a common body. Each of them controls an independent circuit and this allows for greater flexibility in lighting control – two or three groups of lighting lamps can be switched on separately or simultaneously.
- Diverter switch – used to control a single light fixture from two different locations. This type of switch is very useful in long corridors or staircases, with one deviator switch placed at each end.
The main thing to know about electrical switches for lighting is that they only interrupt and supply phase to the lighting fixture. The neutral of the electrical installation is connected directly to the lighting fixture.
Check the phase and neutral carefully!
In a properly constructed and functioning electrical installation, all heating appliances must be grounded or zeroed to protect against electric shock. For this purpose, we use Schuko type sockets and plugs /the name "Schuko" is an abbreviation of the German term "schutzkontakt" - protective contact/, which have special contact plates for making an electrical connection between them. The socket has a special (third) terminal for connecting to the grounding conductor. Since three-wire installations are still rare in our country, this terminal is connected with a short cable to the terminal that is connected to the neutral conductor, i.e. grounding is replaced by zeroing. It is important and mandatory to check in advance with a phase meter which of the conductors is connected to the phase and which - to the neutral of the network, in order to avoid incorrect connection and thus the body of the electrical appliance being under life-threatening voltage.
In many cases, it is very convenient to install double sockets instead of single ones. This foresight can save a lot of inconvenience in the future when frequently replacing one plug with another.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
With us you will find a variety of models of electrical sockets and switches for surface mounting with a high degree of IP protection, which allows their use in humid and dusty environments. The variability is in design, colors, shapes, and purpose.
Regarding keys, we have single, double, and deviator keys.
There are even more varieties of sockets. Here you will find single, double and triple sockets for surface mounting. Most models have covers, which further increase security and extend the life of the device exposed to external weather conditions.
Our nomenclature in this product group also includes a combination of a switch and a socket in one body; boxes/consoles for surface mounting of switches and sockets; removable sockets/Euro sockets; two-phase and three-phase sockets; triple splitter.
The products in this group are from the brands LEGRAND, EL-BI, MUTLUSAN ELECTRIC, MELOPLAM, ELMARK, OSPEL, FAMATEL, ATRA, SCAME and others.
Additional information about the items is contained in their technical data sheets.
