Solar lamps have been gaining popularity for several years now. Their mass application in houses and villas is in the garden, and in urban conditions - on the terrace.
Mass-marketed solar lamps have 1 LED, which they do not illuminate, but rather mark - for example, paths, beds, etc. There are solar lamps with more LEDs, which in combination with better quality solar panels and rechargeable batteries give a significantly better result in terms of power and duration of illumination. The main consumable of solar lamps are the rechargeable batteries, which should be replaced after the end of their life - usually after 1-2 years.

HOW SOLAR LAMPS WORK AND ADVANTAGES

Solar lamps are powered not by the mains, but by rechargeable batteries charged by sunlight. This characteristic feature is their main advantage. They are installed without additional wiring or voltage-transforming devices and we can move them whenever and however we want. They are usually equipped with 1 or more LEDs, with the batteries being replaced once every 2 years. Solar lamps are activated independently at dusk. Their maintenance does not require any special effort, and the lack of cables eliminates the risk of electrical interference.
In order to provide the garden with enough light, which should be noted that it is not strong, but soft and pleasant, solar lamps need prolonged sunlight to charge the batteries – at least 8 hours. Otherwise, they will not illuminate, but will simply mark the space in which they are installed. Therefore, the use of solar lamps is recommended during the summer months.
As we have already noted, their main advantage is that they light up using accumulated solar energy, i.e. without electricity consumption. Another plus is that they are as easy to install as possible – without cables, transformers and the like. There is no danger of electric shock with them, and they are also relatively easy to maintain – especially cleaning the solar panels. At dusk, solar lamps turn on by themselves. Of course, they also have their drawbacks – as we have indicated above, they need intense and prolonged sunlight for about 8 hours a day, which automatically makes them impractical in cloudy and rainy weather, as well as during most days of winter. Even during the white season, however, there are clear and sunny days that charge the solar lamps, and the light they cast on the snow in the evening brings a unique romance.

TYPES OF SOLAR LAMPS

There are three main types of solar lights – accent lights, spotlights and path lights. The latter usually have an off option, so you can save energy for when your guests arrive.
The type of solar floodlights are billed as higher-end garden lights. They are also more expensive, but there is certainly a reason for this. Solar floodlights are the most durable solar lights. They are all made to be resistant to the weather effects of nature, but they are also more robust. The downside is that if you do not judge their location correctly, the light will annoy you quite a bit, but the problem has an easy solution by moving them.
Depending on the color they emit, solar lamps can be single-colored (usually emitting white or blue light) or multi-colored. Of the multi-colored ones, the most popular are those in which the colors flow smoothly into each other, most often following the sequence of the colors of the rainbow.

SOLAR LAMPS FOR THE YARD, GARDEN AND TERRACE

Installing solar lights in your garden is a great way to light up desired areas while saving on electricity and electricity costs. All you have to do when installing them is expose them to direct sunlight during the day.
Arrange your solar garden lights in a way that highlights the most beautiful spots in your garden. But that shouldn't be your only goal. They should also be practical. Light up your stairs, the facade of your house, and the path you walk along in front of the entrance. If you have a flower path that you can walk around, don't leave it in the dark.
Position the solar lights in the garden so that there are no unlit corners if possible. The advantage of this type of lighting is that you do not need to run wiring to each solar light, so their placement is easy. They store their energy, which they collect throughout the day, to disperse it when it gets dark. When choosing your garden lighting fixtures, consider your needs.
Practical advice for solar lamp owners:
After you choose and purchase solar lights, you need to leave them in direct sunlight for at least 8 hours to fully charge their batteries. Then you need to turn them on initially. Most models have a button, which is usually located inside the light in a protected place - for example, under the solar panel. Other models simply have a strip that disconnects the battery contact and you need to pull this strip, which will activate the light. After turning on the lights, place them in their places where they should be well lit by the sun for as long as possible during the day. A well-charged light with a working battery usually lights up for about 6-8 hours after it turns on automatically at dusk. Regularly clean their solar panels from surface dirt. During the winter, it is best to turn off your solar lights and store them until spring. If after a certain period of time - usually after about 1 year, your solar lamps start to glow weaker and for shorter periods of time, you need to replace their rechargeable batteries, which are sold in stores.
