Concrete has been known to people for more than two millennia. It can be said that it is one of the most produced building materials in the world. The reason is its natural origin and its great durability. So, to this day, we can admire, for example, the Pantheon in Rome, built 2000 years ago from concrete. Important advantages of quality concrete products are also its easy cleaning and its long life.
In this product group we have included concrete products for masonry, while other concrete products in our store can be found in the "Exterior Flooring" category from the "Floor and Wall Coverings" division.

WHY IS CONCRETE PREFERRED?

Half of the products in this group are produced by the company SEMMELROCK, whose Bulgarian representative office website highlights the advantages of concrete. Here is what the company's specialists say:
Thanks to the most modern technologies, we are able to give our concrete products additional properties that are decisive for their quality and durability.
The production of concrete is also environmentally friendly, as the raw materials used are of natural origin and are available in sufficient quantities. This means that our products are made up to 99% from local raw materials. So the supply and delivery are short distances and never by air. This does not burden the environment with exhaust gases and there is no waste of energy. In addition, concrete products can be fully recycled.
Concrete is an intelligent mixture of lime, cement and water with inert materials - sand or gravel. Our concrete slabs are produced with individual additives and colored pigments, which give the concrete particularly high resistance or a special appearance.
Concrete is made from natural materials and has the properties of a natural product - when heated, the material expands slightly and when cold, it contracts. The fact that concrete "lives" is evident from the patina that forms on concrete products over time and gives the material a more noble and natural appearance.
Concrete is an environmentally friendly building material that does not pollute the environment during production and use and can be completely recycled.

WHERE ARE CONCRETE BRICKS AND BLOCKS USED?

Concrete products are increasingly preferred in construction, as they are highly durable even at the highest temperatures. They manage to maintain their coarse-grained structure and resistance, thanks to which they prevent unwanted cracks and deformations. This material is often used to build manholes. A single solid concrete brick or block is placed for them. Concrete bricks and blocks are suitable for both masonry of various fences and for earthquake-resistant washers, jointed masonry, etc. Concrete products are characterized by a large selection of sizes and shapes, color and different structure of their surface. According to their shape, they are different paving stones, curbs, tiles, concrete pipes, wall and column covers, parking elements, various types of concrete rings, covers and cones for them, which are used for plumbing, concrete bricks for manholes and fences, concrete piles.
The use of concrete products improves both the vision of the urban environment and spaces, as well as the comfort of life. The rapid development of technologies in the modern world allows for the constant introduction of new products, innovations and the use of natural and high-quality products on the market and in the production of concrete and reinforced concrete products.

HOW ARE MASONRY BLOCKS INSTALLED?

The necessary tools are a trowel or putty knife, a shovel, a wheelbarrow, a rubber mallet for masonry and a level. Materials: Porotherm masonry mortar, reinforcing bars, masonry blocks, C 16/20 concrete.
1. Building a foundation with masonry blocks:
The minimum depth for the foundation is 75 cm and a width equal to or greater than that of the fence or wall to be built. The prepared excavation is quickly and easily formed with the Semmelrock multifunctional masonry block measuring 50 x 25 x 20 cm, which can be used as a remaining formwork.
It is important to observe the basic construction requirements:
- Every 6 m (when building long fences) vertical expansion joints with a width of 10 mm must be provided;
- To avoid the foundation from collapsing, it must be reinforced. 4 pcs. of N10 reinforcing bars are sufficient;
- For columns, it is sufficient to reinforce with 4 pieces of N10 reinforcing bars;
- To place the reinforcement, if necessary, use a hammer to expand the production holes in the side walls of the masonry block.
- When building an openwork fence, columns must be placed at a maximum distance of 250 cm from each other. The arranged concrete blocks are filled with concrete grade C16/20. It is important that the upper surface of the base is horizontal, which is achieved by leveling the individual blocks.
2. Building a fence with blocks from the Rivago system:
- On the finished foundation, built with the basic Rivago block, rows are formed (with a staggered joint), with the individual blocks being connected with a suitable masonry mortar, while the joint is also formed at the same time;
- Porotherm – cement mortar for masonry can be mixed with a gravity mixer or with a mixer, respectively with a continuous mixer (flow-through). When mixing with a gravity mixer, first pour the water and then add the mixture (stirring for about 2–3 minutes). Always mix the contents of the entire bag. With a flow-through mixer, the water is supplied automatically. The solution is applied to the entire contact surface. The temperature (of the air, the base, the material) during laying and bonding must be above +5°C. Only clean water (tap water) should be used. Do not add other products. The fresh solution should be laid within 1–2 hours, depending on the weather conditions.
- When finishing corner sections and for forming columns, a half-base block can be used. For additional ease of construction, the base block can be divided thanks to the internal dividing wall.
