HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SANDWICH?
The answer to this question is very simple - look at the number written on the back of the sandpaper. It shows the number of grains in one square centimeter of it. The higher the number, the more grains the sandpaper has, i.e. it is more suitable for fine sanding. For coarse sanding, it is best to choose sandpaper up to number 40. It removes only the largest irregularities. Numbers from 80 to 120 are suitable for medium-coarse sanding. With them, you can smooth the surface better and remove some smaller and less noticeable irregularities.
If you want sandpaper for sanding wood, sandpaper numbers 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, and 180 will do the best job. The last two numbers are used for fine smoothing.
Sandpapers with grits 220 - 240 are suitable for fine sanding of paint or varnish. If you want to remove dust or microscopic scratches, use sandpapers with grits 280-320. In fact, grits from 300 and up are only used for the finest finishing.
