Regardless of the base surface - concrete, metal or wood, conditions must be created for the surface coating to adhere to it permanently. This is why primers are used. Thanks to their bonding and strengthening properties, primers strengthen the base and prevent possible damage to it (for example, when removing wallpaper). Another task of the primer layer is to reduce the absorption (absorption) of the next material (paint, plaster, putty or glue) and at the same time make it uniform over the entire surface of the base. The result of using a primer that meets all these requirements is a stabilized base.
In the Primers product group, you can find the full range of primer types for the construction and repair work you are undertaking. The wide variety is a guarantee that everyone will be able to find the right product that will do the job for them.
The products in the product group are high-quality production of proven brands and manufacturers such as BODY, ARDEX, DEKORATOR, XPERT, PRAKTIKA, TERAZID, ISOMAT, BORO, BAUMIT, WEBER, SADOLIN, LAKPROM, CAPAROL, KRAFT, SIKKENS, LEVIS, AQUIS, MEGACHIM, THRAKON, ORGACHIM, CERESIT.

PRIMERS - TYPES AND APPLICATION

Long gone are the days when the same primers were used for different finishing works, regardless of the materials. Today, there is a wide variety of both dry and ready-to-use modern primer mixtures, among which you can choose exactly the one that is most suitable for a particular case. When producing primer compositions, the type of surface to be treated (brick or concrete walls, metal, plasterboard, wood, surfaces plastered with cement mortars, etc.), the characteristics of the room in which the primers will be used (wet, damp or dry), as well as the method of subsequent processing (painting, laying tiles, applying plaster or gluing wallpaper) are taken into account. As a rule, primer compositions are divided mainly into materials applicable for primary preparation of the base (the so-called primer-primers) and those for improving adhesion between layers.
Most high-quality professional primers are designed for a specific type of base, which allows for maximum effect from their use.
Here is an example: it is very difficult to apply a first layer of plaster on concrete monolithic walls. Therefore, it is imperative to treat them with a primer. In this case, mineral-based compositions with a cement binder are optimal, which are developed specifically for such a base and guarantee a quality result.
According to their purpose, our offer of wall primers is the richest. We also have wall/ceiling primers , wood/metal primers , metal-only primers , wood-only primers , and car primers .
Depending on their type, you can find universal primers , specialized primers , acrylic primers , alkyd primers , deep-penetrating primers , contact primers , quick-drying primers, water-based primers , etc.

PRIMERS FOR VARIOUS SURFACES - PURPOSE AND FUNCTION

The treatment of surfaces with a primer follows certain rules. If you have an old, crumbling wall, for example, the reinforcement layer should be as thick as possible. For a stable and strong surface, a thinner priming layer is sufficient. In this case, if you use a high-quality primer, you can reduce its concentration and save on expensive material. The optimal average thickness of the primer layer is considered to be 0.2 mm. It should be noted that porous surfaces have better absorption capacity and, accordingly, the material consumption increases.
Ultimately, we can summarize that a prerequisite for the safe laying of various types of cladding and flooring is a problem-free base on which it is applied. Priming is a mandatory stage in the base preparation process. Different types of primers have one main purpose - to strengthen the base and prevent damage to it. Another important function is to reduce and even out the absorption of the next material - regardless of whether it is paint, plaster, putty, glue. The end result is ensuring strong bonds between the base and the next layer. The primer prepares the base for the next coating. It evens out the base and strengthens it. Priming is an important operation before each stage.
