The drainage of excess surface and groundwater from buildings, facilities, etc. is among the main factors that need to be taken into account at the design stage, as an inappropriate drainage system can have a negative impact on the entire structure of the building. In the PE Drainage Pipes product group you will find high-quality drainage pipes and fittings of the proven brand in the industry PIPELIFE.
POLYETHYLENE /PE/ DRAINAGE PIPES - APPLICATION
Gutters and downspouts are not always enough. It is often necessary to build horizontal drainage systems, including a number of elements, among the main of which are drainage pipes. As an element of the construction of underground drainage systems, drainage pipes are designed to drain excess water to the appropriate tanks. Water enters the pipes through the holes in their walls and, due to the natural slope that is given to the structure during installation, flows into the designated tank.
Over the years, various materials have been used for the production of drainage pipes, such as ceramics, asbestos cement, concrete, reinforced concrete, etc. Each of these materials has its own advantages and disadvantages. Today, therefore, pipes made of polymer materials are mainly used, mainly polyethylene pipes, which is due to their many advantages over the others.
Polyethylene /PE/ pipes are characterized by resistance to physical and chemical influences, corrosion resistance, long service life, lower weight and, accordingly, easy transportation and installation, homogeneous structure, and a wide range of operating temperatures.
TYPES OF DRAINAGE PIPES
PE drainage pipes can be single-layer and double-layer, corrugated or smooth. Double-layer corrugated pipes are the better choice. This is exactly what we offer. This type of pipe has extremely high corrosion resistance, good hydraulic properties, wear resistance and long service life. They are widely used in agriculture, in the construction of roads and buildings, as well as in the drainage of various terrains.
The corrugated profile allows for an even distribution of the load from the settling soil along the entire length of the pipe, thanks to which it retains its strength and reliability for a long period of time. A characteristic of double-layer pipes is their smooth inner surface, which helps to reduce hydraulic resistance and facilitates the flow of water through them. This also reduces the risk of deposits accumulating and clogging the pipes.
DRAINAGE PIPES - METHOD OF LAYING AND CONSTRUCTING DRAINAGE SYSTEMS
The depth of laying the drainage pipes varies and is usually specified by the manufacturer, but as a standard it reaches up to 6 meters. It is also a good idea to take into account the depth of freezing in the area where the system is being built. It is also necessary to pay attention to the speed of groundwater inflow into the drains. At low speeds there is a risk of ineffective drainage and silting. On the other hand, at high speeds it is possible to carry out part of the soil through the drainage system.
An important parameter of the drainage system is the amount of water that needs to be drained per unit of time. In order to build an effective drainage system, it is necessary that the design is tailored to the specific terrain conditions.
We would also like to give you some practical advice on laying the pipes. It starts from the lowest part of the network. After digging the route, a base is provided, which needs to be well compacted and leveled. Then geotextile is laid. It is laid on the bottom and vertical walls of the trench, before it is filled with inert materials and the drainage pipe is laid.
Before laying the geotextile, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the ground and, if possible, dry it. Gravel or the corresponding alternative filtering layer is poured over the geotextile. When choosing a filtering layer, experts recommend that it be selected taking into account the requirement that the soil particles subjected to drainage should not be washed away, not clog the backfill and not contaminate the pipes and wells.
Suitable filtering materials are quartz sand, anthracite, expanded clay and others with a certain grain size composition.
The connection of all polymer drainage pipes is carried out using fittings.
