You have renewed the floor and stairs in your home with tiles or parquet. Most of the work is done and the new look is pleasing to the eye, but there is still something to finish. For a perfect and finished look, profiles and moldings are used. They are the best solution for aesthetic finishing of various floor surfaces. They are placed after the installation of the floor covering, in order to hide the joints, to cover the spaces left in advance for running cables and more.
In the Metal Profiles and Strips product group, you have a wide selection of metal strips with different profiles, color shades and sizes. All of them are made of the most preferred and suitable material for this activity - aluminum.
TYPES OF METAL AND ALUMINUM PROFILES AND MOLDING
According to their purpose, metal profiles and moldings are divided into Floor Profiles and Moldings and Stair Profiles and Moldings , and according to their type - into L-shaped profiles and moldings and Transitional profiles and moldings .
The most commonly used types of moldings are:
- Skirting boards for one floor level - when the coverings are at the same height or the difference is no more than 3 mm to 5 mm.
- Skirting boards for two levels - when the difference between the coatings is more than 4-5 mm.
- L-shaped or U-shaped moldings - used to hide the joint between the floor covering and the wall when it is not possible to install a skirting board - for example, at entrance doors, balcony doors and French windows.
- A strip for making steps or when there is a difference in floor levels of more than 2 cm.
In the Metal Profiles and Skirtings product group, you will also find ordinary L-shaped profiles for covering the expansion joint or forming a smooth transition between surfaces with different elevations. The group of step skirtings includes corner and step profiles that can be installed on various surfaces such as tiles and laminate flooring. They protect the edges of the steps and thresholds, which are the most vulnerable to wear and mechanical damage. It is not unimportant to note that their grooved surface prevents slipping, thus increasing the safety of users. This type of skirting is preferred by hotels and villas for the safety of guests.
Carpet profiles are used to fix the edges of the carpet and join different types of flooring. They are also used to join different types of surfaces and protect edges.
METAL AND ALUMINUM PROFILES FOR FLOORS AND RAILS - INSTALLATION METHOD
The installation of aluminum profiles and skirting boards for floors and steps is done in three ways - by attaching to the floor using dowels-nails, by gluing with assembly glue or by securing the skirting board in the joint using a plastic clip (if the size of the joint allows it - otherwise, assembly glue must be used). The profiles and skirting boards allow cutting and grinding with an angle grinder.
