Putzgrund base Transparent is a high-quality water-based primer designed for the preparation of load-bearing mineral surfaces such as plasters, plasterboard and thermal insulation systems. It contains marble sand, which provides excellent adhesion and covering ability, while facilitating the application and processing of subsequent coatings - paints, decorative and mineral plasters. The product reduces the water absorption of the substrate, creating an even and stable surface for subsequent layers and as part of Caparol thermal insulation systems increases the durability and quality of the final coating.

The primer is water-based, with very good adhesion and extended processing time for subsequent coatings. It can be tinted manually or using the ColorExpress system, allowing color matching with subsequent layers. It is easily applied with a brush, roller or spray gun, and is also suitable for airless spraying. The consumption depends on the structure and absorption of the surface, with an approximate value of about 200 g/m². Store in a cool, frost-free place, and the transparent base allows universal application on various mineral substrates.

Purpose:

• Transparent water-based primer for interior and exterior mineral surfaces such as mineral plasters and plasterboard
• Prepares the base for the application of decorative plasters, synthetic, hybrid or silicone-based paints, silica dispersions, as well as colored stone plaster (Buntsteinputz)
• Reduces water absorption of the substrate and water penetration through structural defects
• Suitable for use in Caparol thermal insulation systems
• Provides a stable and even base for applying colored and structured surfaces

• Density: ~1.59 g/cm³
• Max. grain size: < 300 μm (class S3)
• Water vapor permeability SdH₂O: < 0.14 m (class V1)
• Consumption: about 200 g/m2, depending on the absorption and structure of the surface
• Dilution: up to 10% water to achieve working consistency
• Lower limit for application and drying: +5 °C
• Overcoating time: approx. 12 hours at +20 °C and 65% humidity

Application:

1. By brush, roller, squeegee or airless spraying (piston pumps, nozzle 0.027-0.031", pressure 100-120 bar)
2. When applying to rough surfaces, the intermediate and final coats can be thinned with a little more water for even coverage.
3. After work, tools are cleaned immediately with water or water and detergent.
4. Not recommended for horizontal surfaces where water may accumulate
5. To achieve a uniform surface for saturated colors, a test application and use of one batch quantity is recommended.

Compatibility and special instructions:

• Not recommended for horizontal surfaces that retain water
• On dense or cold substrates, as well as in the event of prolonged drying due to adverse weather conditions, temporary traces of leaks may appear; these traces are water-soluble and disappear with precipitation or damp cleaning.
• For surfaces with salt efflorescence, mold or crumbly areas, preliminary preparation with appropriate primers or consolidation products is recommended.
• Compatible with most decorative and facade plasters, synthetic, silicone or hybrid-based paints, but should not be mixed with concentrated colorants, dispersion or silicate paints
• Store in a cool place, but do not freeze. Use protective equipment when applying and follow safety instructions.
