Description
The seeds germinate in 10-12 days. Sowing should be done when the soil is consistently warm to around 13-14°C, at a depth of 10 cm.
Planting outdoors occurs when the soil has warmed up sufficiently, when the danger of late spring frosts has passed - usually in early May. The optimal temperature for growth and development is 28-30°C.
Sowing time
- Indoors: March - April
- Outdoors: April - May
One week before moving to a permanent location, the seedlings are hardened off by reducing the temperature and drying them.
During the drought, the seedlings should be 30-35 days old and have developed no more than 3-4 true leaves.
They are sown outdoors between April 15 - 20 after the soil has warmed.
