5. Clamp the workpiece to your work surface or clamp it in your woodworking bench. If necessary, use scrap wood as a backing to protect the workpiece from pressure marks.
6. Set your router to the desired routing depth. Deep grooves or slots should be routed in several passes. This will protect the router.
