Description
ESAB OK 48.00 basic electrodes with dimensions of 2.5 x 350 mm represent a proven worldwide standard and high-quality consumable for professional manual electric arc welding (MAW). This model is specially developed for joining unalloyed low-carbon steels, showing an increased yield strength, ensuring impeccable quality of performance. The formed weld seam is distinguished by extremely high mechanical toughness, strength and absolute resistance to hot or cold cracks. The weld metal retains its perfect strength characteristics even when working in harsh operating conditions, where structures are subjected to constant serious loads and stresses.
The main advantage of the OK 48.00 electrode lies in its high-tech LMA (Low Moisture Absorption) coating, which is highly resistant to atmospheric moisture absorption, which drastically reduces the risk of voids and hydrogen embrittlement in the seam. The electrode is characterized by excellent welding and technological properties, stable arc burning and minimal spatter in a wide range of current modes (between 80 and 110 amperes). It allows achieving remarkable productivity and high speed when welding in difficult spatial positions, including vertical from bottom to top. The ability to work in straight polarity when performing root seams makes this ESAB consumable an indispensable choice for welding pipelines, pressure vessels and critical metal structures.
Purpose:
- Manual arc welding of unalloyed, low-carbon and low-alloy structural steels
- Construction and welding of responsible metal structures subjected to dynamic and heavy loads
- Execution of root, filling and decorative seams in the installation of pipelines and tanks
- Use in shipbuilding, bridge construction, heavy machinery construction and professional repair shops
Main advantages:
- Maximum quality and reliability of the weld seam with guaranteed protection against cracks and porosity
- Reduced need for pre-drying thanks to patented moisture-resistant LMA coating
- Extremely easy guidance of the weld pool in all spatial positions, especially in vertical position
- High tolerance and perfect results even when welding steels with unclear chemical composition
