Description
The vapor-draining bitumen membrane PEGASUS SPOT is a high-tech auxiliary material from the special product line of General Membrane. The product is made of a fine layer of high-quality distilled bitumen, modified with elastoplastomer polymers and reinforced with factory-perforated glass fleece. The characteristic of this model is the multitude of correctly distributed holes with a diameter of ⌀40 mm across its entire surface.
The unique mechanism of Pegasus Spot is activated when the next (first actual waterproofing) layer is applied with a torch. The heat from the flame passes through the holes and melts the bitumen underneath them, thus the next membrane is welded to the roof base only in the perforation areas. This achieves partial (semi-independent) adhesion on exactly 15% of the total area. In the remaining 85%, a microscopic air cushion is formed. In combination with a system of roof vents, this structure allows the residual moisture in the concrete or screed to diffuse freely and be discharged into the atmosphere. This completely prevents the most common problem with flat roofs - the formation of bubbles and the subsequent rupture of the waterproofing.
Purpose
- Construction of an underlayment, vapor drainage layer during repair and renovation of old roofing systems
- Initial application on damp or partially dried concrete slabs and cement screeds before the actual waterproofing
- Flat roof systems requiring controlled partial bonding to the substrate for vapor ventilation purposes
Main advantages
- Bubble Stop: Prevents the accumulation of water vapor under the screed, which deforms roof coverings
- Controlled bonding: Ensures precise fixation on exactly 15% of the surface, saving the need for complex mechanical fastening
- Excellent dimensional stability: The fiberglass reinforcement keeps the perforated structure stable during torch heating
- Economical packaging: The length of 30 meters in one roll allows for quick spreading and covering of large areas with a minimum number of joints.
