Ceramic cutting machines are one of the most commonly used, as they directly affect the layout of the home and office. We are surrounded by terracotta and faience tiles everywhere in buildings. Without cutting machines, their adjustment is impossible. And when starting a repair, ceramic cutting machines are one of the indispensable assistants of the master, be it a professional or an amateur. This makes it especially important to choose a quality and reliable tool that will do the job for us so that the desired result is obtained.
TYPES OF TILE CUTTING MACHINES
Ceramic cutting machines can be manual and electric.
Hand-held machines are relatively light, easy to carry and have the widest range of applications for cutting ceramic tiles. Their operating principle is quite simple and safe. This principle is uniform, although there is a wide variety of shapes, lengths and sizes of the cutting parts - the cutting rollers. Strong, sharp cutters are used as the cutting part. The cutters or cutting rollers are attached to a handle that is easy to grip and, by moving them manually, they make the cut in the tiles. On both sides of the handle there are feet that, when the cut is complete, press evenly on both sides of the tile and separate it exactly along the line. There are machines whose cutting rollers are very easy to change and without any auxiliary tools. Their variety in hardness, wear resistance of the material and diameter is great.
The varieties of manual tile cutting machines consist of technical features and technological advantages. The models differ in the maximum thickness and dimensions of the tiles that can be cut. Some are more universal in application with a predominant cutting parallel to the edge, others are adapted for cutting at an angle. There are also differences in the force of pressure that the tool exerts to break the tile.
ELECTRIC TILE CUTTING MACHINES ARE FOR LARGER VOLUME OF WORK
When the volume of work is larger or professional skills are required, then not manual, but electric water-cooled tile cutting machines come into play. With this type of machine and cutting method, the material to be processed lies motionless on the tabletop, while the cutting block - an electric motor and a disc directly attached to its shaft - move. The block is suspended under a support rail, and with the help of sliding bearings it moves straight along it, without any lateral deviation. This allows for very precise cutting, as well as cutting very narrow strips. The cutting block moves with the help of a comfortable-to-hold handle.
The machines work with a diamond blade under water cooling, which helps in fast and easy cutting. For cooling, water is used, which is collected in a bath and from there is sucked in by a pump with a built-in filter that retains larger particles. The water is supplied in a thin stream onto the cutting blade, and its casing and rubber guard provide protection from water splashes.
In addition to right angles, these tools can also cut at angles of up to 45°, something that is impossible with manual tile machines. A device places the tile at a precisely defined angle, which is a completely professional performance.
